siuslaw river fishing
The Siuslaw River and its bay can be among Oregon's elite fall chinook salmon fishing systems, with 3,000 to 5,000 big kings harvested during its better runs.
Chinook, coho, steelhead, and sea-run cutthroat were once abundant in the lower river, but now the coho and cutthroat fisheries are closed owing to huge declines in fish numbers. However, anglers still fish for chinook and steelhead, and the jetties are good places to catch surfperch, rockfish, lingcod, and sole.
Sturgeon were also once popular in the Siuslaw ,and with proper conservation measures, hopefully they will be again in the near future. These pre-historic monsters are an exhilarating challenge to catch, and provide a hearty serving of earthy .
